We-Vibe Sync

There have been many incarnations of the We-Vibe wearable couple’s vibrator, but until I received the We-Vibe Sync for review, I’d only ever experienced the earliest incarnation of it. And I’d hated it. It was too small, the silicone was draggy, shiny and awful, and the vibes were terrible.

WE-VIBE SYNC 1

It really did put me off this type of toy, but as I’d had a successful reunion with the Eroscillator 2 (which I never thought would happen in a million years) I decided it was time to give them another chance.

I’m really liking We-Vibe’s packaging at the moment. Simple, accessible, and attractive, the cute little box the Sync comes in really is well designed. I love how compact it is, especially as it contains so much.

Inside it sits the Sync, right at the top where it can be seen through a plastic covering on sliding off the sleeve. Beneath it is the charging dock, inside of which is the usb cable and a snazzy little remote control. Beneath all that is a storage bag, a booklet and a wee sachet of We-Vibe lube.

First, I’ll talk about the charger, cos I think it’s pretty awesome.

It’s a white ABS plastic pod which opens up to reveal the neatly tucked away cable and the remote. In a depression in the centre are the magnetic charging points, and the Sync sticks to it like glue. It really does have a strong connection. I’ve picked it up and swung it about, gently of course, and it hasn’t come apart. This is a wonderful thing, since most magnetic chargers I have are forever disconnecting and pissing me off.

Charging from flat takes just over two hours and gives you up to 90 minutes of playtime. Well, depending on the intensity you choose, of course. We use it on constant at full intensity and we get three, maybe four sessions out of one charge. I *think* that puts it at around an hour. I did try to time it but was too distracted.

Controlling the We-Vibe Sync

You have a few options of how to control your Sync; the ON button on the toy itself, the remote control, or the We-Connect app, which can be downloaded on to smart phones, iPods, laptops, tablets, etc. The Sync gives you a plethora of vibration options. Four intensities – Low, Medium, High, and Ultra – and six pre-programmed modes – Pulse, Wave, Echo, Tide, Crest, and Surf.

Controlling the Sync from the ON button gives you access to all of those, and that’s fab if you have a favourite that you know you’re gonna stick to. Trying to change it during use? Not so fab.

The remote (connectivity good up to 3m from the device) and app, however, give you free reign to do whatever the hell you like with ease. Not only do you have access to all of the intensities and patterns, but you also get to adjust the intensity of the patterns too. That makes it a fully customisable experience.

Bear in mind that you can only be paired to one device at a time. If you want to switch between the remote and app, you’ll need to re-sync each time.

The We-Vibe Sync

The Sync is such a cute little thing. C-shaped, it’s intended to be worn inside of the vagina during sex (either with a penis or a dildo) to stimulate the clitoris and g-spot simultaneously. Fabulous plan for those who get nothing out of penetrative sex. As a bonus, the penis owner gets to share in the vibes.

WE-VIBE SYNC 8

Made from gorgeous matte aqua blue (in my case) silicone, this incarnation of We-Vibe’s wearable vibrators is a dream. I despised the silicone my first We-Vibe product was made from. It was forever covered in dust and crap, and it was so unpleasant in use. Draggy, nippy, and ridiculously slippery when lubed up. The Sync gives me none of those problems.

At 2.5” insertable, I do still find it to be on the small size. Being adjustable goes a long way to making up for that, though. Unlike the first We-Vibe wearable toy we used, the Sync is pretty much fully adjustable. Two joints allow you to angle both the clitoral and G-spot stimulators to give you a better chance of getting full contact during use. I find holding my finger behind the join while I customise the shape gives me better control over it. I’m also less likely to go too far and bust it that way.

Once it’s lubed up there is still a bit of awkwardness to it, but we get over that by letting the Fella be the one to position it. That’s a sexy thing in itself, and watching his face, trying to gauge when he’s gonna switch it on is a serious turn-on for me.

Using the Sync

No matter what their purpose in life is, I’m in the habit of using all vibrating toys on my clit to see if they have what it takes to bring me to orgasm. Teaching myself to come clitorally without penetration was one of the best things I ever did, and I take advantage of it with every new toy.

The vibes that the Sync puts out are really rather great. They feel a lot like the original Tango’s vibes, and the only thing my clit loves more is the revamped Tango. They have a lovely rumble to them, but are somewhat dampened by the silicone. Using the rounded edge of the clitoral arm brings me to orgasm in no time, but the internal arm isn’t as powerful and doesn’t have enough oomph to get me there.

For that reason, I can’t say I went into the first internal use of the Sync with anything that remotely resembled high expectations. I had an inkling that the g-spot vibes wouldn’t be strong enough, for a start, and I was very concerned about the fit. I have large labia and my g-spot seems to be quite deep inside me.

Also, I had the memory of the original We-Vibe in the back of my mind. Nipping, popping out, and getting jammed between the Fella’s cock and my pubic bone. All the ouchies.

The Fella spent a good five minutes popping it in, wiggling it around, taking it back out again to adjust it. He eventually found a shape that touched both of my hotspots and stuck with it. After turning it on, straight to Ultra, he used his hand and rocked me to a deep, toe curling orgasm. After I’d finished, he said it was his turn.

Did the Sync work for us during penetration?

Ummm, yes and no. First use, it popped out of me twice while the Fella was trying to get his cock in. Oh my God, it was farcical. He was clicking his tongue, telling me to hold it in with my muscles one minute and then telling me to loosen up and open the fucking door so he could come in the next. I ended up laughing so hard I shot him in the leg with it, and then he was laughing cos he had to get up and go wash it before putting it back in.

WE-VIBE SYNC 3

Once it and he were snugly inside me, he turned the Sync on, and those first five minutes were fantastic. His slow grinding was fucking amazing, pushing the internal arm right into my g-spot, and rocking the external arm against my clit. The ribs in the silicone don’t look like much, but they do heighten any rubbing sensations that go on. It takes a while, but doing it this way leads to a decent orgasm for both of us. As a slow, lazy sex enhancer, the Sync is first rate.

But as soon as the Fella’s control snaps and he wants to go hard? Bye-bye We-Vibe Sync. It flops out of me every single time. No matter what position we try it in, be it missionary, doggy or me on top, the Sync just doesn’t stay put during a hard fuck. I will say that cowgirl positions are the most successful, though. That’s when it stays in longest, but if I bump more than I grind it’s adios. I honestly think it’s because it’s too small. If it was a little longer it might have more chance of staying in on the outstroke.

Cleaning and care

Cleaning the Sync is a piece of cake. It’s waterproof, so a dunk in a sink of soapy water followed by a rinse and an air dry is all you need. Either pop it in the storage bag provided or stick it back in its box. I do the latter, cos I want the charging pod, remote and toy all in the same place, always.

Would we recommend the Sync?

After the carry-on of getting both it and the Fella in me at the same time, we’ve settled into a pattern with the Sync that works for us. We’ve learned its limitations, and how it does and doesn’t work with my body. That’s why it’s taken me almost two months to review it; I wanted to be completely sure that the way it worked for us earned it our seal of approval. So the answer is yes, we would recommend it.
