I’m fairly confident that most people who have an interest in sex toys will know of the We-Vibe Tango. Whether through personal experience or through blogs/social media/forum chatter, you’ll probably know that it’s widely accepted as the most powerful rechargeable bullet on the market. So powerful, in fact, a lot of people have expressed a desire to have a softer, cushioned version. And ever a company to give its customers what they want, We-Vibe delivered not once but twice. First with the We-Vibe Touch, and then more recently with the We-Vibe Wish. But with the latter, you get a little more than you, well, than you could wish for.
I could have reviewed the Tango within an hour of getting my first one. Bone shaking, intense orgasms after less than five minutes of use, every damned time I use it. The We-Vibe Wish, however, has taken me almost two months to get to grips with. Crayzee, I know.
What it is
The We-Vibe Wish is, in a nutshell, a vulva vibrator. Shaped like a pebble with a tapered tip, it’s designed to offer broad stimulation of the entire genital area while still having the capability to deliver powerful vibrations in specific spots with pinpoint accuracy.
Ergonomically designed to fit comfortably in the palm of the hand, the Wish measures up at 4” from base to tip with a width of 3” at the widest point. Circumference wise, it’s around 6.5”, so really is a good handful without being cumbersome.
Most of the toy is made from gorgeously smooth aqua blue silicone that’s lovely to the touch. There’s a small oval of ABS plastic at the base where the magnetic charging point and lone button are housed. Pinks, purples and blacks have dominated the sex toy industry for too long. It’s refreshing to see We-Vibe rolling out their newer products in this lovely, summery blue.
It isn’t just pretty to look at, though. The silicone is wrapped pretty thickly around the plastic core, so there’s plenty of bounce to the toy. And the tip! The silicone at the tip overshoots the plastic inside, so is gloriously soft and squishy. Ugh, I could easily love it for that alone.
The idea behind such a squishy exterior is, if you grind the body of the toy into and around the vulva, you stimulate both the glans clitoris and the inner clitoral nerves. Basically (very basically) the clitoris is the glans (which you can see at the top of the vulva) and a massive hidden network of nerves that lies beneath the vulva in a rough wishbone shape. Stimulating all of it can have outstanding orgasmic effects for some people, others not so much.
Charging, Cleaning and Storage
The We-Vibe Wish is a usb rechargeable vibe. Now the original Tango charger is the biggest dickhead on the face of the planet. It’s a cup shaped magnetic connector which disconnects, rolls around and just generally pisses me right off. The updated version of the Tango came not only with 30% more power, but also a better magnetic charger. I said better, though, not good. It’s still hit and miss as to whether it’s gonna stay connected.
But the charger for the Wish is superior. Yeah, it’s still magnetic, but I’ve had absolutely no issues with it disconnecting. It isn’t a strong connection by any means, but the design is such that if you lay it on a flat surface it’s not going to move, so connection won’t be lost.
As for cleaning, the Wish is 100% waterproof. You can shower with it, bathe with it, squirt all over it, and then give it a wash in a sink of soapy water before air drying and either popping back in the box (if like me you’re a box keeper) or in the included storage bag.
Vibes and power
Unlike the other palm sized We-Vibe offerings, the Wish is dual motor. The one in the tip is designed to give pinpoint stimulation to super sensitive areas like the clitoris, and the other (I don’t know where it’s placed) ensures that the vibes travel evenly throughout the whole toy, making stimulation of the entire vulva possible.
There are ten modes to choose from, all of them operated by a single push button in the base; three speeds and seven pre-programmed modes. There’s nothing different about them, each being recognisable from other We-Vibe products. You have the option to download We-Vibe Connect, the app that lets you turn your smart device into a remote, and from there you can manipulate the vibes into whatever you want them to be. I have the app but haven’t used the Wish with it. Not because of the *ahem* issues surrounding it lately, but because I’m happier using the button.
There is something different about the Wish. A new thing that We-Vibe calls Power Pulse Vibration. They claim it’s ‘unlike anything you’ve ever felt before’, and what it is, is a wobbling pulsation that sends the vibes into your hotspots in a rolling wave.
The vibes on offer are exactly what I expected; powerful, deeply penetrating and so fucking good. Except for that Power Pulse carry on. That right there is the reason it’s taken me eight weeks to figure out how to learn to come with the We-Vibe Wish…
In Use
Oh man, I love the power behind these vibes. My clit loves them, and even my vulva – which usually couldn’t give a toss about vibes or even stimulation – gets all quivery when I sit on the Fella’s hand and rock against the soft body of the Wish.
But that Power Pulse thing just didn’t do it for me at first. Reason being, it felt faulty. I couldn’t get past the knowledge that I had the vibes set at the top constant speed but was getting a pattern like sensation. They felt unsteady, uneven, and I can’t say for sure if it was a physical thing or a psychological one, but I just couldn’t reach the finish line using it.
I tried different positions (on my back, my knees, on my belly, standing), both solo and with the Fella, with and without penetration. But even though it felt nice and I did like it for the most part, the waves distracted me and pissed me off.
It’s taken ages for me to get over it, and I finally did just a couple of weeks ago. All it took to tip me over the edge was a bit of extra mental distraction. Yep, watching porn with the Fella for the first time ever (I know, right!) is what did it. It put me in the right state of arousal and diverted my attention long enough for me to reach orgasm without obsessing about that bloody wave.
Now, each time I reach for the Wish my body seems to accept that the waves are a thing – neither good nor bad – and I can come despite them. And the Fella can come using the Wish too, but only when I let him. Yeah, this one is all mine.
Final Word
While the Wish isn’t my favourite We-Vibe product, it’s still fantastic and I’d still recommend it to anyone looking for an external vibrator. My nipples like it, my butt, vulva and clit all like it and the Fella’s cock, balls and butt are pretty fond of it too. The strength of the vibes are enough to keep power lovers satisfied. Provided they don’t get weirded out by the Power Pulse like I did.
