Just like everyone else on the planet, I have favourite movies. I have favourite music, foods, and TV shows. And I also have favourite sex toy brands. I’ve made no secret that the top of my pops is Fun Factory, but I don’t think I’ve ever officially announced that We-Vibe is probably a close second. I’ve reviewed a few of their products this past month or so, and now it’s the turn of one that’s been waiting for my attention for a while. The We-Vibe Touch.
For a few years now, one bullet has reigned supreme on my top clit toys list. The We-Vibe Tango. Damn, I love that toy so fucking much! If anyone had told me, even just a few years ago, that a three-inch-long vibrator would not only be capable of giving me stitch inducing clitoral orgasms, but that it would give me them every time I used it, I would have laughed in their face. Younger me had a hard clit to please.
But even though it was love at first wank for me and the Tango, there are so many people who dislike it. One reason I see cited regularly (even in my emails from some of you, my lovely readers) is that the sheer power of it combined with the ABS plastic casing makes it too harsh for sensitive clits. There’s nothing to cushion it, so some feel instantly desensitised, while others just feel like they’ve been subject to clitoral assault and battery.
To counter these problems, I’ve recommended indirect stim, or using thick, water-based lubes. Masturbating over underwear, or holding a piece of thick fabric between the vulva and the toy to muffle the vibes. I’ve even recommended looking for silicone sleeves to slip the Tango in to. Some of those recommendations worked, while others fell flat.
Well, a much better suggestion than all of those things, is the We-Vibe Touch. Because, in a nutshell, the Touch is basically the Tango with its clothes on.
Shaped kinda like a pointed tongue with an ergonomically designed handle, the Touch is a lovely thing. It’s coated in silky smooth silicone, with an ABS ring around the base. Inside of that ring, you’ll find the single control button, and the magnetic charging point.
I won’t whinge about magnetic charging again. All I’ll say about this toy’s magnetic connection is, ugh. It’s rubbish, but still better than some. Charging takes about an hour and a half, and the little light on the charger will stay lit until charging is complete. In the base of the We-Vibe Touch, there’s a light that flashes to let you know when your toy is about to conk out. If you pay attention to that, you need never have it die mid-play. With up to two hours of play (depending on your chosen vibe) you’ll probably want to keep your charger handy.
So, the toy itself. From end to end, it measures up at 4-inches. As I said above, the tip is tongue-like. It’s pointed, wide, and curves upward slightly. On the top, there’s a smoothed out hollow. Very shallow and curved, it’s great for hugging the whole of the clit.
Because of its size – 1.5-inches across and just 1-inch wide – the We-Vibe Touch offers a load of different types of clit-stim. Using the very tip gives you killer accuracy, so those who love pinpoint stimulation can rejoice. If that’s not your thing, using the edges gives softer stimulation, while using the back of the toy gives broad stim. And like I said above, the little cup can give stimulation above and below the clit at the same time while either skimming over the clit itself, or pressing against it if you prefer a little pressure.
The handle is flattened, and measures 2-inches wide and 1.25-inches deep. All of the vibration is concentrated in the tip, so there’s surprisingly little feedback into the handle. That’s great for those who find discomfort in travelling vibrations.
Now, the reason I would recommend this clothed Tango to those who don’t actually like the naked one, is the silicone. It’s thick and firm, with a just a little hint of flex. That doesn’t just make it soft on the skin. You see, dense silicone is a vibration dampener. By the time they travel through the thick, squishy stuff, they’re lessened.
But get this; even though they’re not as powerful in the We-Vibe Touch as they are in the Tango, the quality remains the same. You still get those toe-curling, teeth-clenching rumbly vibes that penetrate deep into the vulva. But they’re softer. They feel less like whacking your clit with a rubber mallet and more like a pointed finger that vibrates like a dream.
Even though I love the Tango for its aggressiveness in play, I’m still a huge fan of this refined version. If I want a quick, mechanical orgasm (you know the ones) the Touch can give me that if I just whack it up to full speed and hold it against my righty clit.
If I want to eke it out, making the build slow and the climax powerful, the lower intensities do the job. The high speed gets me off quicker during penetration (either the Fella or an insertable toy) and as the Touch is so easy to hold and position, it’s a great one for partner play. The Fella loves it on the lower settings, which makes me so happy as he’d had a little fall out with the Tango recently over intense vibes right in the wrong spot on one of his balls. He’s less weary of the Touch because it’s not as in yo’ face.
With four constant speeds and four patterns to choose from, there’s pretty much a vibe for every occasion. And they’re all quiet. Something that astonishes me about We-Vibe products is how quiet they are, given how kick ass they are. Usually, to get super powered vibes, you’ve got to accept that they’re gonna make a bit of racket. The Touch doesn’t, it’s very discreet.
Well, it is until you take it in the bath, which you can if you want to cos it’s waterproof. The water magnifies the noise, though, so be aware of that if you decide to take it for a dip.
