Leather. Steel. Buckles, padlocks, chains. These are the kinds of things you’d see hovering near the tops of the drawers in our bondage chest if you were to have a sneaky peek.
But there’s a lot of work that goes into setting up sessions that involve those things, and it’s nice to have a quick alternative to hand, just in case the mood for a bit of tie and tease takes our fancy, and we just don’t have the time to get out the big guns.
The solution is simple: the Tease by Lovehoney, 3 Piece Soft Bondage Kit.
In the interest of full disclosure, I’ll admit that I didn’t actually buy this little set. It came to us as a gift with purchase, but that isn’t to say that it’s tat that’s been given away to make some room in a cavernous warehouse in the middle of Bath.
It’s actually a really lovely set, which is just a small part of quite a broad range. We already have the crop (which features in the header image at the top of this page) and paddle from this range, and there’s also a flogger, and a set of four satin restraints too.
The set we’re concerned with here consists of:
- Blindfold
- Wrist tie
- Feather tickler
The Tease range is made from gloriously shiny, satiny fabric, and either real or faux leather, depending on the piece in question. Our set is red, which really made me happy as our crop and paddle are red too, so we’re on our way to having a full, matching set!
The quality on these products is fantastic. All of the stitching is spot on, with nary a loose thread in sight. We’ve had a few different sets of satin restraints, from Lovehoney as well as other places, but the quality of the former’s offerings is always consistently good.
Red is a gorgeous colour in my opinion, and this set is a bright scarlet that looks lovely against the skin. I’m pale as it is, but this makes me look deathly, and as both the Fella and I get off on that, it’s a bonus for us.
As they’re a staple piece for those into sensory play, I imagine most people will have, or will have had, some type of blindfold in their toy box. Because of its two generous, 21.5 inch ties, this type is by far the most user friendly. It’s enough to accommodate all head shapes and sizes, as well as the most bouffant of hairstyles too.
The eye mask is approximately 9 inches in length and 2.5 inches high, so it covers the whole eye area nicely. A pliable wire is hidden beneath the black faux leather that edges it, making it simple to shape it around the nose and block out very nearly all light.
As it’s made from a silky fabric, there is a possibility that you might get a little bit of slip, or a slight loosening of your knot, if you do simple ones like we do. This isn’t a big deal though. It’s supremely easy to use, so just quickly tighten the knot and carry on where you left off.
This is possibly one of my least favourite types of restraint, because it confuses me. The Fella can get me into it no problem, and he can even fashion a pretty bow too, but every time I try it ends up on the floor. That’s probably more to do with me being impatient and a bit of a clutz more than anything else, though.
At a whopping 52 inches in length, there’s more than enough here to bind the hands, or even the ankles, should you wish. I don’t know about thighs though. Well, I know definitely not my thighs, I don’t know about yours.
To use this type of restraint, lay it out on a flat surface and place your wrists either side of the little loop in the centre (loop facing up, obviously). Whoever is doing the binding can then take the ends and use the tapered tips to thread them through the loop, then tie a bonny bow on top.
They’re really comfortable to wear, and because they’re satiny fabric, there’s no unpleasant rubbing or chaffing. Like the blindfold, your knots can work loose given the slippery nature of the fabric, but a watchful captor will easily keep that in check. If the knot is tied well, you’re not getting free. Not unless you have scissors. This is some tough stuff!
And lastly, we come to what could be the cutest feather tickler in the world. It’s made from a thick rod of clear plexiglass which is capped on one end with a metal ball, and a short metal tube at the other. That tube holds a cute little cluster of scarlet red maribou feathers that feel lovely when traced over the skin.
The Fella uses this once he’s reddened my skin with his hands, and it’s such a delicate sensation after his rough attentions, it could quite literally drive me mad. And he knows it. If he’s going in from cold, as he says, my favourite places to have this used on me are my thighs, neck, shoulders, and upper back. It always feels good, and often leads to some amazing massages.
My only grievance with this set is the packaging. It comes in a plain plastic bag with a Tease by Lovehoney sticker on the front. A pretty – or even plain – box would have been nice, as satin ties can end up in a crumpled mess in drawers or toy boxes between washes. Did I mention that hand washing them in warm water and drying on a clothes horse keeps this kinda thing in tip top condition? No? Well it does.
Our set is still crisp looking because it’s been folded back up and put in my “to review” box after every use, but once it goes in the drawers, it’ll be in a mini box all of its own. If you’re thinking of purchasing this set for yourself – which you can do here – I’d recommend getting a mini box of your own too, just to make sure it’s always looking its best when you want it.
