Sometime last year I bought a butt plug. It was gold metal with a pretty clear crystal in the base. Aah, heavy, pretty and totes inexpensive. Oh, and such poor quality I sent it straight back and vowed I would never use a product from that brand again.
What brand? Precious Metals.
But when I saw the new pieces in the Precious Metals line at Sex Toys UK, I had to give them another chance. I know that user experience and product quality are two different things, but since my reunion with the Eroscillator 2 I’m all about second chances. When my eyes fell on the Precious Metals Ribbed Silver Explorer, I knew I had to give it a shot.
And I’m SO pleased I did!
I’ll admit that I was tense when I first opened the cute black velvet back and slid the Silver Explorer out. I looked at it from every angle but the base, loving the sensuous curves and the cold, hard metal. Then, with one eye closed, I upended it and peered at the base.
Perfection!
The plug I bought last year was shocking. Massive spots of rust, green oxidisation and bubbling gold coating surrounded the pretty jewel, which had dulled so much it looked like the bottom of a pint glass. But the Anal Explorer is clean, smooth and flawless with a gem that sparks and shines like a diamond.
Size wise, the Silver Explorer would be the perfect step up from plug to probe. At just 4.75” insertable with a maximum girth of 3.75” it’s great for beginners as well as experienced anal players looking for a new metal piece.
The tip is tapered to a point, aiding insertion and providing pinpoint stimulation for those (like me) who know they have specific hotspots that they can manipulate. A slim neck opens out into a wide bulb which merges into a smaller bulb.
The only thing I dislike about the build is the fact that there’s no neck between that last bulb and the base. Yes it does flare a bit wider, but not by much. There’ll be no safe way of doubling this probe up as a butt plug, someone will always have to have their fingers on it, be it you or a friend.
I am aware that the central bulb is larger than the base, but I do worry that it won’t be enough to stop butts pulling the toy in. Some people say their sphincter squeezes toys out at the point of orgasm, and while I do experience this quite often, I’m no stranger to my arse trying to swallow a toy whole. A wider base would have been much safer.
In use, the Silver Explorer feels lovely. I’m a huge fan of using metal anal toys cold. There’s something sexy about the jarring shock of my butt tightening around something freezing, and the feeling of everything gradually warming up is really nice. Thrusting slowly lets me feel each hump and bump, and letting it all slip out just so I can push it back in again really makes my toes curl.
The beauty of metal toys is being able to use whatever lube you like. That’s allowed me to take my Silver Explorer in the bath with me many times, because I get to use silicone lube. As a rule I hate the stuff, but it can’t be faulted for water-play as it doesn’t wash away like a water-based lube would. I can play for as long as I like without having to go to the trouble of reapplying lube.
That helps me out a lot when it comes to using this toy on the Fella, too, cos I don’t have to stop what I’m doing to apply more lube.
He loved the look of the Silver Explorer from the moment he first saw it, and he was eager to get me to use it on him. I was more eager, though. So I wandered into the bathroom while he was in the bath getting ready to play, carrying the probe and a bottle of silicone lube. Dangling one leg over the bath, he let me explore.
Just like I do, he enjoys having it thrust slowly in and out, and he’s very fond of the little twist I try to do every time the wider bulb pushes back in. It’s fun watching his cock twitch around while I play, and seeing him come without me touching it is awesome.
Clean-up is easy with the Silver Explorer. I wash mine with soapy water after use, paying attention to the tiny gap between the gem and the metal. After that I spray it with toy cleaner, rinse and thoroughly dry with a clean cloth. I haven’t let it air dry yet, cos I don’t want to risk it going funky like the Precious Metals plug.
