I love getting to try new products. It’s always fun, nearly always orgasmic, and only very rarely dull. It’s especially exciting if the products are from a brand I like, and OVO just happens to be one such brand. They recently sent me a box of goodies, and the one I’ve chosen to review first is the OVO E4 Dual Sensation Vibrator.
Firstly, shout out to OVO’s fancy new packaging! Personally, I liked their previous boxes, but they did have the slight problem of being sturdy enough for long term storage but not at all discreet. OVO have addressed that, switching their toy printed boxes for a magnetically closing grey box with simple branding. Over that is a throw away sleeve, and this is where you’ll find actual size product pictures and info. When you’re ready to store, sling the sleeve and put keep your box wherever you like.
In that box, along with your E4, you’ll find your usb charger, a product catalogue so you can drool over all the things, and a warranty registration card. OVO are so certain of the quality of their products they offer a 15-year warranty. You don’t even have to post the card, you can register your product on line.
In general, OVO take a very minimalistic approach to their toys. They look clean and simple, with no fancy bits to be fiddling with. Well, their touch controlled vibes, but that’s not what the E4 is.
Made from two body safe materials: silicone and abs plastic, the OVO E4 is very nice to look at. Mine is pink and silver. The silicone is smooth and flawless with that lovely soft touch finish that always feels lovely in use. I did do a bit of a side-eye at the plastic as it’s that coated stuff that so often peels after a time. But you can usually tell if a product is low quality enough for that to happen just by looking at the edges, and I must say that the E4 is perfectly well made. While I do think that this coating will wear off eventually, I can’t see it bubbling and peeling.
A fun thing about the OVO E4 is that it lends itself well to heating and cooling. As it’s waterproof it can be placed in water set to the temperature of your choice, and it holds its temp surprisingly well. Hot lasts longer than cold, which is understandable given motor heat and body temps.
So, there’s your dual sensation: a silicone/abs mix that works for manual temperature play.
The OVO E4 is a nicely sized vibrator. I do love to be stretched and filled, but that I can get from dildos. Unless they’re absolutely miniscule, vibrators impress me (or not) with their vibes. The E4 is a fab 8” in length, so even though it has a modest maximum girth of 4” (4.75” at the handle), it’s got enough inches about it for me to easily manoeuvre it to reach my internal hot spots. It’s rigid so there’s no manipulating it by bending, but it’s easily angled with the shift of the wrist.
I can get good contact with my g-spot, and it’s not broad contact either. Thanks to the tapered tip it’s pinpoint, and that means I can really rub the shit out of my g-spot as well as I could with say, a glass dildo.
Like many of OVO’s products, the E4 is usb rechargeable. As the box tells us, it comes with an 80% charge, and I managed to flatten that in its first outing. The following charge took just under two hours and that gives you up to an hour of playtime. You need to not be shy when sticking the charging pin into the self-healing hole. It takes a firm push to click it into place, but do be aware that the plastic surrounding the pin doesn’t sit against the silicone. There’s a gap, so don’t try ramming it all the way in or you’ll break it.
The buttons on the OVO E4 are located near the base on the silicone side of the toy. I found them a bit fiddly as there are four of them and they’re super slim. That’s find and dandy when they’re in your hand and you’re just testing them out, but in use they get lubey and that kinda makes them merge into one. It’s hard to tell which one your finger is on so I had a few mishaps with changing patterns while looking for speeds. Still, I’d take buttons over the E2’s classic ipod wheel controls any day of the week.
And now for the vibes…
There are seven modes on offer here, and a fabulous six intensities. When I first switched the E4 on I honestly thought it had started on its highest setting. I was wrong. That lowest setting has a gorgeous rumble to it, and it’s barely lost when you turn things up a notch. Well, okay, the highest setting does turn a bit buzzy, but it’s still not an unpleasant buzz.
I can give myself a clitoral orgasm with the OVO E4 in about three minutes, which is good cos it’s pretty loud outside the body. Once it’s in there it feeds lovely rumbles into my g-spot, and alternating between vibes and thrusting had resulted in some great orgasms. Pairing it with a clit vibe (specifically, the OVO D5, which I have and will be reviewing soon) helps me on my way to achieving toe curling blended orgasms.
Now, where my smile for the E4 fades a little is when it comes to cleaning. Like I said earlier, it’s waterproof so can be washed in a sink of soapy water. However… the entire toy has a join where the silicone and plastic meet. That join has a minute gap, and that gap ends up clogged with vag gunk and lube. The bad thing is, you can hardly see it when you wash it. It only becomes evident if you run your fingernail around it once it’s dry. Loads of white bits flake away. When you clean this it’s a good idea to use a toothbrush and give it a double going over. Failing that, remember to wash it again before its next use.
So, yeah, final thoughts on the OVO E4 are that it’s great. I love its power, the rumbles, the temp play thing, and it has the bonuses of being waterproof and rechargeable.
