Now, in my eyes, the OVO D5 is a little on the large side to be classed as a true mini vibe. To me, minis are 4” and under, yet the D5 is 6” in total length. I guess it is a mini for me, given that I like big hulking toys that are as long as my forearm. But I know a load of people who would consider 6” their go to size for insertables. And a few who tighten up at the thought of it.
However, when it comes to girth, this little silicone (and soft touch ABS plastic) is definitely made in miniature! At the widest point near the base, it’s just 3.5” in circumference. And, possibly to the delight of pinpoint stim lovers, the business end is a miniscule 1.75”. It’s the pointiest little pink thing I’ve ever seen. Most bullets have very tapered tips, but the OVO D5 just seems extra spikey to me.
That has the potential to be either spectacular or disastrous. I mean, if the vibes are those rumbly, clit shaking wonders that never fail to get me off, the pointed tip of the D5 directing them directly at “the spot” could well send me into orbit. But if they’re weak, tinny and buzzy, the tip of the vibe could end up feeling like the tip of a sword. We shall see…
Like I said, the OVO D5 is made from bright pink silicone, though it is available in black, too. It isn’t seamless, having an ABS insert around the base and partway up the back. The join is shocking for cleaning. It gets full of gunk and no matter how well I think I’ve cleaned it, I haven’t ever cleaned it enough. There’s always bits of flaky crap dropping off it once it’s dry, and I’m a bit manic about running my nail around it to check if I missed any. I always have.
Surprisingly, the charging point isn’t found on that plastic insert. It’s found on the silicone itself. A tiny self-healing hole that you pierce with the charging pin. It’s UBS rechargeable, so you can plug it in wherever you’d usually charge your phone. A full charge is completed in less than two hours, and depending on how you use it you get up to an hour and a bit of play before it conks out.
Something that is located on the plastic insert is the single button. I call these workhorse buttons, cos they do everything. This one is the ON/OFF button, and it also lets you click through the modes. I don’t think I’ve ever come across such a sensitive button in a toy before. You just have to look at it and it flicks onto the next mode, whether you’re up for it or not. That can be a problem in play, as it’s super easy to knock it once your concentration starts to waver. In fact, it’s super easy to knock it full stop because of where it’s positioned. Right where you’d put your fingers while you use it.
With the OVO D5 you’re in for two constant speeds of vibration, and three patterns. Not as much on offer as other vibes of this size, and nothing you’ve never seen before. On the face of it, it’s nothing special, really. The only thing that could make it be so would be the vibes…
But they don’t. After reviewing the OVO E4, I had high hopes for the D5. I expected that there’d be something good waiting to be discovered once I turned it on, given that everything else about the toy is so simple. But it wasn’t to be.
The vibes are far too high pitched for me, so much so they feel stingy. And the potential of that super pinpoint tip is lost because the vibes make it feel too jabby. It’s uncomfortable to use clitorally, too weak and small for me to use vaginally, and not safe to use anally.
Certain areas of my body do like it, though. My nipples, for one, and my perineum and anal opening. Also, less conventional places like the sides of my neck, tops of my shoulders and even my feet. I usually hate having anything but the ground touching my feet, so for me to like these vibes on them is baffling.
But I can’t orgasm through feet stimulation (and I’m jealous of you if you can), so the OVO D5 is nothing more than an appetiser toy for me. Something to tease non-genital body parts either during sex or in the lead up to a mastubatory session with something else that actually works for me.
Now, I’m sure you knew this was coming, but the Fella loves the D5. It gives him the kind of vibes that he tries to wriggle away from while giggling. I use one of those small toothbrushes for this. It doesn’t mark the toy, but it works well to get all the lube and body fluids out of the gaps. Well, it does after a few washes.
OVO recently updated all their packaging, making it a permanent storage solution. I like these little boxes and have opted to keep all of mine, but if you don’t keep packaging you’ll need some kind of bag. Try to get a colourless bag to prevent the dyes leaking onto your toy.
I don’t dislike the OVO D5. I’d say I’m more indifferent toward it than anything else. It just doesn’t have anything that works for me, be it size or vibes, and it isn’t something I’d reach for to use on myself.
At the end of the day, though, not every toy is gonna work for every person. You might love this one, especially if you don’t need your sex toys to come with industrial style vibes.
