In my recent package of OVO review products, I discovered something that was very familiar to me. Not the actual product itself, I’d never seen it before until I opened the box, but the shape is something I’m well acquainted with. It’s a cigar shaped mini vibe that most sex toy companies have at least one own brand version of.
Meet the OVO C1
At 4 inches in length, with a circumference of 3 inches at the widest point, the C1 is very sweet, and very petite. It’s made from abs plastic, which is phthalate and latex free, so is completely body safe, and it comes in three colour ways; black, white, or purple.
There’s nothing even remotely ‘vibrator’ looking about it. I left it lying on my bed beside the tumbled contents of my pencil case, and neither the Fella nor our kid batted an eyelid. I’ve seen perfume atomisers this shape, as well as cigarette lighters and usb sticks, so it really is one of the most discreet sex toys I own.
This all adds up to it being a very attractive option to those looking for their first vibrator. But no matter how perfect a toy might look to prospective buyers, the proof is in the eating, or in this case, the cumming. If a toy doesn’t have vibes that can get you off, it’s useless.
The OVO C1 is usb rechargeable via a jack pin, the silicone hole for which is situated in the base of the toy. This would usually mean that a toy is submersible, but the C1 is only splash proof, so no skinny dipping with it.
Just like the OVO D3 I recently reviewed, the C1 has simple controls. One button on the lower portion of the toy does it all. Holding down the plus (+) end for a few seconds brings the toy to life, and lets you cycle up through the two speeds and five patterns on offer. The minus ( – ) symbol allows you to scroll back down, should you go a step too far. Holding the plus button down again for a few seconds switches the toy off.
When it comes to the quality of those vibes, the words I would personally use would be buzzy, high pitched, and weak. I’d throw noisy in there too. I’ve used the C1 in so many different situations, and I’ve found that the only ways I can orgasm from it is if I use it alongside my fucking machine, or a very textured dildo, and when the Fella uses it on me as a shallow insertable and clit teaser during oral sex.
Though that might seem like a bad thing, it’s actually the opposite. I honestly didn’t expect to get anywhere near orgasm with it, because I’m a car engine power kinda girl these days, but the C1 does the job if I’m in the right situation (and frame of mind).
As he is with most higher pitched vibes, the Fella is a fan of the C1. He likes it used in the usual ways (on his balls, on my cheek while I give him oral, etc) but his favourite thing about it, is that it’s rechargeable. We go through many batteries in his bullets, so I’ve been instructed to make sure the C1 is always fully charged and ready for when he wants it.
I do think the C1 would be a great first vibe, or even a travel companion that can be slipped in a bag. Like I said above, the shape is discreet, and though it is a little noisy, it’s nothing that can’t be muffled by a duvet. First forays into penetration can be facilitated by the small size, and it doesn’t get in the way of you’re introducing it into partner play.
In my opinion, gentler vibes will always a sensible place to start with sex toys. I remember my first experience of vibrations on my clit came from an electric toothbrush when I was approaching my mid-teens, and it shocked the shit right outta me.
