Once upon a time, I’d take an immediate dislike to any sex toy which, in my opinion, would look perfectly at home on a shelf in Toys R Us. Cute faces, kiddie brands, teddy bears… it was all one big nope. Fast forward to 2018 and here I am, writing a review of a vibrator with a cheesy smiling face printed on the business end. And you know what? I think the Lovehoney Oh-Moji Mini Wand is as cute as fuck.
This little stick of sunshine measures up at a pint-sized 5” all in. The ABS plastic peanut-shaped handle is made of white ABS plastic and bears the Lovehoney heart near the top. It’s super slim and almost weightless. At its widest point, it’s a mere 4” in circumference. I find it really comfortable to hold, though its tininess does make it harder for me to reach my vulva in some positions.
The bright yellow head of the Lovehoney Oh-Moji Mini Wand is adorable. It’s made of bright yellow silicone and comes in three designs, all of them baring the faces of popular emojis. You can choose either Tongue Out, Kisses or, as I did, Heart Eyes.
The shape of the head is akin to the adaptor Lovehoney made for their full-sized wands a while back. Firm yet soft to the touch, it’s a dome on one side with a protruding, flattened disc on the other. That’s the part the heart-eyed emoji is printed on. And those eyes? Lovehoney hearts. Such a clever bit of branding, I smile every time I look at it.
The ribbed neck of this little cutie is silicone too, and it’s uber bendy. That can be a curse as well as a blessing, though. All of the weight of the toy is in the head and given its small size that’s exactly where it’s needed. It helps maintain contact with your chosen body part and adds a bit of pressure. But if you put even the slightest bit of pressure on the neck it bends and that can be a hindrance if you like to grind when you’re close to coming. The neck does bend until the base of the head touches the handle, but I personally lose concentration cos I worry that I might go too far and cause it to snap.
At the very base of the handle is a yellow silicone insert. This is where you’ll find the charging point and controls. Well, control. It’s a single push button that does all the work. Holding it for a couple of seconds turns it on/off. Quick presses take you through three speeds of constant vibration and eight patterns. A bit of water-based lube rubbed onto the emoji face and it’s go time.
Truth be told, I didn’t think that this would be an orgasm bringer for me. I expected the vibes to be tinny and itchy, surface level buzzes that numbed or distracted. In reality, it is a buzzy vibrator but for its size it has a reasonable amount of power behind it.
Using the flat face on my body before play feels lovely. My nipples really appreciate it, and so do the sides of my neck, my hip bones, and my thighs. I don’t bother with the patterns cos I just don’t play that way. The highest constant speed is always my preferred mode on any toy. On this one, constant high is enough to deliver a decent clitoral orgasm, though it takes me a while to get there.
That’s something I’ve had to learn is a good thing. I’ve had to teach myself that orgasms that take a while to arrive can be powerful, and that the toys that deliver them have a place in my toy box. I’ll freely admit that it’s taken having an enormous sex toy collection to do it, though.
Back when I was a toy user but not a reviewer, buying products that made me come quickly was always my priority. I didn’t have the time or the money to waste on toys that did the job but over longer stretches. I aimed for quick orgasms rather than letting myself enjoy the sensations, I never appreciated the build that came before the release. Essentially, my sex toys were giving me maintenance orgasms.
But having access to so many different types of sensation has taught me that I can enjoy more than one type of orgasm. And that’s taught me not to turn my nose up at buzzy vibes. I still will with some toys cos there’s buzzy and then there’s shit, but the Lovehoney Oh-Moji Mini Wand is a good one.
Once I get myself aroused, I love to use the whole of the flat side to massage my inner labia and vaginal opening before even thinking about my clit. Smooth, slow strokes work so well. And to get me to the finish line I like to push it against my clit and jiggle my wrist. If I apply too much pressure the neck bends, or the vibes dull and the orgasm ebbs away a bit, so I find that the natural weight of the toy combined with jerky wrist movements works best.
The Lovehoney Oh-Moji Mini Wand isn’t waterproof, so care needs to be taken when cleaning. As with all Lovehoney wands, the head comes off so can be washed in warm, soapy water. The rest needs to be cleaned with a cloth dampened with soapy water or toy cleaner, if you use it. The ribs get gunked up with lube and body fluids so extra care is needed.
This really is a great little toy and it’s relatively inexpensive. It’s rechargeable, powerful for its size, and would make a fab addition to any toy box. Emoji fans will love the design, and it could well appeal to littles, too.
