There are loads of things I love about my Kinklab Neon Wand. How it feels, sounds, looks and smells, for starters. Anyone who has read my Meet & Greet post for the upcoming Eroticon weekend will know now that I have sexual impulses toward and because of thunderstorms. Well, my Neon Wand is a mini thunderstorm all in one compact little package.
Another great thing about the Wand is that what you see isn’t all you get. There are attachments and add-ons galore, some available separately and some that come in a big assed kit with all the stuff you could ever need.
The electrode that repeatedly caught my eye was the Kinklab Heart On Electrode. I had intended to review it in the lead up to Valentine’s Day, cos what better way to say I love you than a heart that doles out micro static shocks, but I didn’t want it to be eclipsed my another e-stim product so decided to wait a bit.
Firstly, for those of you who are unsure about what a Neon Wand actually is, check the below pics out.
An ABS plastic bodied, rocket shaped wand that is surrounded by an insulating silicone sleeve not just for comfort but also to lessen the chance of the wielder receiving electrical feedback. It’s a solid state wand, meaning that there are no internal moving parts, so is not only inexpensive to buy in comparison to a traditional violet wand, but also less likely to break and cost you a fortune.
The kit I received was of the purple variety, but the Heart On electrode is red! That was a super exciting thought in and of itself, because it would be a new visual experience for both myself and the Fella, not to mention a new physical experience for yours truly.
When I first unpacked it from its cute tube (which I use as storage to keep it safe) I was surprised by how big it is. All of Kinklab’s electrodes are similar in length at between 5.57” and 6.5”. Where my surprise came from was the size of the electrode’s head. Shaped in the likeness of a very chubby, rounded heart it measures 2” high by 1.75” wide. That gives it a rather massive surface, and the electrical charge from the wand spreads right across it.
The first thing I noted about the Heart On Electrode when the Fella switched it on was the colour. Such a bright, bold orange! Yeah, I know I said its red, but the colour looks orange to my eyes. It’s so bright, and there’s something about the harshness of the colour that gives me the heebie jeebies. In the best possible way, or course.
The thing that grabs me about it is the fact that it looks hot. I don’t usually stress over the visuals cos I don’t really get to see much other than upper body zaps. But my mind associates the flickering neon orange with flame and I’m not ashamed to say that, in the intensity of a sexually charged moment, I’ve given off a yelp when the Heart On Electrode touched my skin, even though I didn’t feel anything. For psychological play this thing is aces!
For physical play, however, it isn’t as good as the electrodes that came with our wand kit unless you use the outer edges of the heart. The surface is just too big and I don’t feel anything from that at all, not even when the Fella lets it hover over my nipples or labia. If he touches my skin with it I get a quick prickle but then that’s quickly smothered by the pressure of full contact.
As I said, though, using the very edges is just as good as using any of the other electrodes. You get a gentler zap by using the tips of the heart. Or you can turn it to the side and get a sharper sensation from the edges.
Cleaning this electrode isn’t just as simple as using toy wipes. I’ve done that a few times, but 75% alcohol wipes are recommended in the Neon Wand’s user manual. I have a few packs of medical alcohol wipes so I use those to clean up. If you have alcohol wipes ensure that the electrode is 100% dry and the alcohol fully evaporated before next use.
I reckon this electrode would be a great way of introducing someone new to electrical sensations to a Neon Wand. Better, even, than the mushroom electrode. There’s pretty much no sensation to be had from the surface of the heart. But the sound, sight and scent is all there to be experienced. The lingering smell of ozone on the skin is so fucking hot I’ve turned myself on long after play. Even times when I thought I was completely done, and all because I turned over and sniffed my arm.
Adding a few cheeky zings from the sides of the heart and feigning innocence is a perfect way for a top to tease their newly initiated sub with this electrode. The sensations are super controllable, even on the highest setting, so sexy surprises are a great way to get the tension building. I kinda wish I was new to all this again, just so I could experience that.
