Hop Cottontail Rabbit Vibrator

Imagine, if you will, a black and white scene on a small, boxy screen. Two individuals staring each other down, the lust thickened air wrought with tension. They want to touch each other. But they’re afraid that, if they do, they might discover that desire aside, they’re entirely incompatible. That’s basically me and the rabbit vibrator, people. Those providers of dual stimulation and I have had a strained relationship in the past and this, the Blush Novelties Hop Cottontail Rabbit, is the latest in a string of vulva bunnies to try to seduce me. Read on to find out how it did…

This packaging, though. All the candyfloss pink in the land has been concentrated into this paperboard box. And the window in the front of said box is massive, showing pretty much the entire Cottontail in all its candyfloss pink glory. I really wish I could hate it, but even though it’s cheap and natty looking for a product in this price bracket, I actually like it.

To look at, the Hop Cottontail Rabbit is one sexy little vibe. Well, it isn’t really little. Size-wise, it’s probably pretty standard for a vibe of this type. From base to tip it measures up at about 8.25-inches, with a 2-inch clitoral arm. There are four different shapes in the Hop collection, each of them doing something different, but I’ll be truthful and tell you that I didn’t even know what the Cottontail’s function was.

What I saw – all I saw – when I looked at Blush’s website was the end of the shaft. I swear to god, I get butterflies in my belly every time I see a tip shaped like this. Vibrator or dildo, it doesn’t matter. It just turns me on, because I know what this shape can do.

A slim, gently bowed shaft flares from 3.5-inches in to a 4.5-inch head that balloons out at the front. The curve accommodates the pubic bone, skirting around it so that the head sits flat against the g-spot area. All of the Hop Cottontail Rabbit is silky silicone, except for the little soft touch plastic panel at the base. It’s smooth, only needing a small amount of water-based lube for insertion.

The Cottontail is mostly silicone over plastic, so is quite firm, but everything above the clitoral arm is flexible because of the toy’s fancy feature. That makes it comfy to position, and you can get a decent amount of pressure from the very subtly pliable tip.

Before I tell you what this particular Hop! Vibe does, I’ll mention the clit arm. It’s uber tapered so looks pokey, and it can be depending on how you use it. But the silicone is soft, the arm very flexible, and it has the potential to be a dream for those who require their clit stim to be exact. It’s pinpoint, and you can control where it sits purely by shifting your hand.

The Hop Cottontail Rabbit is rechargeable via magnetic USB. These chargers are decent, but the cable is just 2ft long, so you may need to get creative with your extension cables depending on where you usually charge your stuff.

It’s waterproof, too, so bath/shower fun and easy cleaning are yours for the taking. Make dobly sure the little metal charging point is always dried immediately, just to be on the safe side. Wouldn’t want any rusting going on.

So, the functions.

To operate the Cottontail, you have two buttons. You’ll find them in a little peanut shaped cartouche just beneath the clit arm. Pressing the bottom button gives you the vibes, of which you get three constant intensities and four patterns. And the top button? That one makes the shaft rotate!

Yep, the Cottontail has three speeds of rotation to stroke your g-spot into a frenzy.

The first thing I noticed when I switched on the vibes was how quiet they are. Then I noticed how powerful they are. There’s a lovely rumble to them, which I adore. Something about using the shaft for clitoral stimulation feels kinda harsh. Like, it’s rapidly bouncing off my clit rather than vibrating on it. Adding a little bit of pressure lessens this, but I tend not to. I have to be really aroused to like that violent tapping, but with a well lubed, swollen clit, it feels fucking awesome!

I wish so hard that the clit arm had as much vigour. It’s not nearly as powerful as the shaft, so can be easily eclipsed by the stronger internal sensations. The tip definitely does offer super precise stimulation, though, so I can come with it as long as I don’t go crazy with the thrusting. Rocking the handle back and forth lets me tap and grind into my g-spot while the controlled motion keeps tip of the arm in contact with my clit.

This works for me almost every time. If it doesn’t work, I can guarantee that it’s because I’ve been distracted. The longer it takes me to come with the Hop Cottontail Rabbit, the more that pointy, buzzy clit arm numbs me. I have to get the big guns out when that happens, cos once I’ve decided I need an orgasm I’m a rabid bear until I get one.

Now, you may notice that I haven’t mentioned the rotating shaft. If I could get away with not mentioning it, I would happily pretend that it didn’t exist. Firstly, the sound it makes freaks me the fuck out. The lowest speed is okay, but the highest is horrible. It sounds like a dentist’s drill, and some of y’all might know that I’m so not a fan of mouth miners.

The screech puts me off my game more or less immediately, so for my test runs, I had to wear headphones. And I had that music turned up loud!

This feature just doesn’t work for me. It kept stalling, trying to force the shaft out of me, scraping against my pubic bone in the most unpleasant way. Even on its heinous sounding highest speed, it didn’t actually rotate unless I kept it at a certain angle. That angle kept it away from my g-spot, so that gorgeous head went to waste just groping away at my vaginal walls. I tried to see if I could get some decent cervical or a-spot stim from it, but the clit arm got in the way. It jabbed me, pressed too hard against my urethra…all the bad things and none of the good.

Writing this has been saddening for me, because I love nearly everything about this vibrator. The sad thing about that is, the thing I don’t like is the thing which is the toy’s main feature. The only thing that saves the rotation (and it isn’t a very big save) is getting the Fella to hold the base firmly so that the shaft can’t rotate. Because that’s been purposefully stilled, the part outside my body rotates instead. That means the clit arm rotates, and that feels quite nice. Not nice enough to make me come, but nice enough for me not to want to condemn the Cottontail’s star feature altogether.

It feels like a cop out when I say this, but I think the Cottontail is one of those vibes where you need to try it to see if all the features are right for you when combined. That said, this is and will always be the case with all sex toys, but especially dual stimulators, so I won’t let myself feel too bad writing such a vague finish for this review.
