If anyone asked me what my favourite sex toy brand of all time is, I’d throw my arms out and yodel, “Fun Factory!”. I love getting packages delivered, but there’s an extra air of excitement about it when I know there’s something from that brand inside. I’m not ashamed to admit that, when the Fun Factory Amorino Mini Vibrator arrived, I did a little dance. But not for the reason you’d expect. The reason was, it’s the first product of theirs where I’ve looked at it and thought, what the fuck’s this about, then?
Yep, the Amorino isn’t your everyday mini rabbit. It’s got a little something extra, and I knew it had the potential to be either mind-warpingly good or completely and utterly shite.
So, what do you get?
Inside of Fun Factory’s modern, inoffensive packaging sits a golden presentation box. In that sits the Fun Factory Amorino, a USB charger, a silicone band, and instructions.
I’ve said it a thousand times before, but I really am not a fan of magnetic chargers. They’re silly and unnecessary, but more and more places are using them. Luckily, rechargeable Fun Factory products have reasonably strong connectors, so charging them isn’t too much of a pain. It takes up to 8 hours to charge from flat, but you get ages of play before it needs doing again, as well as a stand-by battery life of up to 3 months, so that’s not too bad. I’ve used it quite a few times and I’ve yet to flatten it. And we all know that I’m not a lowest speed kinda gal, so I use up plenty of battery juice.
The Amorino is made from matte silicone with an ABS plastic handle. Fun Factory silicone is super draggy with a very light texture to it. It eats up lube like it’s going out of fashion, so have plenty on stand-by before you get down to business. The colour of my Amorino is petrol – which I adore – but it’s also available in pink.
As it says on the box, the Fun Factory Amorino is a mini vibrator. From end to end it measures up at a modest 6.75 inches. Just three of those inches are insertable, the shaft having a maximum girth of 4 inches. And that little clit arm stands tidgy and proud just one-inch from the base of said shaft. All-in-all, it’s a super compact little vibe.
My favourite thing about its appearance is the little pierced heart that decorates one side of the external arm. Yeah, it collects gunk and needs a bit of extra attention during cleaning, but I can forgive it cos it’s so cute. That and the fact that the Amorino is waterproof so it’s easily cleaned in a sink of water.
The thing that sets this vibe apart from other mini rabbits in terms of design is a simple silicone band. This was the unknown quantity. It could make a great vibe spectacular, or it could make it that great vibe where you leave the weird bit in the box.
But before I tell you which it is, I’ll tell you about the vibes.
Like I just said, they’re great. Fun Factory vibrations are always decent, and the Amorino doesn’t let the side down. Once you switch the travel lock off (by pressing the FUN and Plus (+) buttons simultaneously), holding the FUN button down again for a couple of seconds brings the vibe to life. When it begins to vibrate, it’s on mid-intensity constant speed. To find the gentlest speed you need to click the Minus (-) button three times. From there, the Plus button takes you up through six intensities and then six patterns.
The vibes on offer here are lovely. They are slightly buzzier than Fun Factory’s G5 line, but there’s still a pleasant rumble to them that travels below the surface level of the body. There’s no tickling or itching, just decent, powerful shudders. I can reach a clitoral orgasm by using the tip of the shaft pretty quickly.
Using it as a standard dual stim vibrator (sans silicone band) is less successful. I can feel that the vibes are right, and that they’re giving my body exactly what it wants but, unfortunately they’re not giving it to the right places. For me, it’s too small. I can either have clitoral stimulation from it, or vaginal. Never both, though I’ve bent myself into every position I’m able to try to make it reach.
Anally (again, sans silicone band) I get some nice feels from the Fun Factory Amorino. The vibes are good, the angle of the shaft pressing on my front walls great, and the external arm buzzing away at either my perineum or vaginal opening tickly and delightful. The Fella likes it for anal play, too, for mostly the same reasons. Except he can go one better by having it stimulate his prostate. Rabbit vibes are marketed at women too often, there really is no need. They’re fab for everyone, providing you get one that works with your anatomy.
Now, this silicone band business. There are two ways you can use it. Wrapped around the shaft and clit arm (there are little grooves in both pieces to keep it attached), straight up and down, or crossed over at the middle to make a figure 8.
As I’ve mentioned in another review, the clitoris isn’t just the little bean you see sitting pretty at the top of the vulva. It goes back beneath the mons, and runs beneath the surface either side of the vulva. All of it is erectile tissue (behaves like a cock when aroused) and all of it is super sensitive.
The thinking behind the Amorino’s band is to stimulate as much of the clitoris as is externally possible. The vibes travel along it, the motors in the shaft and clit arm working together to make it vibrate and ensure that the vibes are felt from the top of the vulva to the bottom.
In theory, this is a stellar idea.
In practice, it just doesn’t work. I don’t know how a body with less abundant labia would fare, but I do know that my labia smother it. They close over it, pressing it against my inner labia. There’s a sensation of something there, but pressure halts the vibes so it’s like I have two kinda pointless cables stringing up my flaps. What’s more, the tightness of the band makes for a slightly uncomfortable stretch, and the whole thing seems even more reluctant to aim for my hotspots.
Like I say, I don’t know if that’s purely because I have a larger body and labia that probably do interfere with the Amorino’s fancy band. Someone smaller might find that everything lines up perfectly, and their slimmer labia don’t get in the way of the band sending their vibes to all the right places.
This is one of those toys where you really have to give it a shot to see if it’s right for you. I’m glad I tried it and I’m glad I have it cos there’s no such thing as too many good clit vibes. But my quest for the perfect rabbit is gonna continue, cos this one just isn’t it.
