It’s that time again. The time for the sex toy market to be pelted with all things Christian Grey in the lead up to the release of the second movie in the kinky sex saga: Fifty Shades Darker. Though I was a late comer to the books, I’ve never considered myself a true fan of Grey and his issues – or Ana and hers for that matter – and I gave up watching the first movie not fifteen minutes in, but what I am a HUGE fan of, is the related sex toys that are designed and produced by Lovehoney, and this Fifty Shades Darker Desire Explodes G-Spot Vibrator is no exception.
The first thing that struck me when I looked at the box was how familiar it all seemed. From the packaging with its quote lifted directly from the book to the silky storage bag (albeit blue and not grey this time), the presentation felt like something I knew, and I was strangely comforted by this familiarity.
Inside of that packaging sat my Desire Explodes G-Spot Vibrator, and that looked familiar too. Let’s just get it out of the way now: this vibe is pretty much the Lovehoney Desire Luxury G-Spot Vibe in an almost-black-it’s-so-dark shade of blue. But that’s not an issue for me personally, as I don’t actually have the Desire version, so I wasn’t just doubling up, I was experiencing something new.
The Desire Explodes G-Spot Vibrator is made from wonderfully silky silicone, and has a gun metal grey band around the lower portion, separating the controls from the shaft. Those controls comprise of a plus button (+) which powers on the toy and takes you up through the 12 speeds, an oh (O) button that lets you cycle through the 8 modes, and finally a minus (–) button that takes you back down through the speeds and powers off the toy.
It’s USB rechargeable via pin jack, and the port for that is located at the very base of the vibe. There’s a depression in the silicone, with a self-healing hole in the centre, and in this case, that makes the whole toy completely waterproof. I don’t like using silicone in the bath, but I do appreciate how easy to clean submersible toys are. Charging takes around 2 hours, and I’ve gotten up to an hour and a half before it needs charging again.
I will admit that I fell in love with the Desire Explodes G-Spot Vibe before I’d even charged it. In fact, I’d used it before I’d even charged it, because its size and shape make it a perfect dildo. The whole vibe is 8.5 inches in length, with 6 of them insertable, and the girth at the widest insertable point is 5.25 inches. The shaft tapers to a 4.25 inch girth, before curving into a bulbous tip that’s approximately 4.75 inches. Finished off with a 6 inch, curved handle for easy grip and control, you’ve got one hell of a chunky toy on your hands!
Seriously, just using this toy as a dildo with a little manual clit stim was enough to have me racing to orgasm. The tip hits my g-spot effortlessly, and when I wanted to vary the sensation, pushing it further in provided not only a whole lot of intense stimulation around my cervix (I love cervical stimulation), but also a lovely stretching feeling around my vaginal opening.

And I was so pleased to discover that there has. The Desire Explodes Vibe not only boasts more speeds and patterns, but it’s also dual motor. One is positioned right in the tip, and the other in the shaft, so no matter how deep you take it, you get some lovely buzzes.
Actually, you don’t get buzzes at all, cos the vibes on offer here are rumbly! Not super rumbly, but they’re deep and penetrating, and more than powerful enough for me to reach orgasm using it alone, (ie no clit stim). I get all of the things from the shape and size that I mentioned above, but adding the vibes makes my g-spot very happy. Just rocking it from side to side makes me cum, and having the Fella give me a good hard fuck with it has me squirting in no time.
One of the biggest surprises for me, is that my g-spot loves all of the patterns.
