I’m not a girly girl. I wear clothes with skulls on them, I paint my nails in dark colours, and I avoid rom-coms like they’re gonna give me a social rash. But offer me a lime green butterfly vibrator and I’ll squeal like a teenager and take your hand off. Sorry, Blush Novelties. I’ll get that hand back to you very soon, I promise!
So yeah, joking aside, when I was offered the opportunity to review the Lotus Flutter from Blush’s Aria range, I snapped it up.
The first thing that struck me was the packaging. I know I’ve sworn off rabbiting on about boxes unless they’re really special, and this one doesn’t qualify as special at all, but as far as throw away packaging goes, it is lovely. It’s so bright and clean, it feels right that it’s came to me in the spring.
The Lotus Flutter is a gorgeous little vibe. At 7.25 inches in total length with 4.25 of those being insertable, it’s more or less standard in terms of size, but at just over 4 inches in circumference, it’s quite unspectacular when it comes to girth.
Like I said earlier, I’m not really a bold colour fan, but the Lotus Flutter’s lime green silicone is to die for! It feels so smooth to the touch, and while it does feel a bit thin in places, there are areas of it that have a nice subtle squash.
The Flutter part of the vibe comes from the cute little butterfly that adorns the out-facing side of the clitoral arm. It looks so pretty, and on the lower settings, it kinda does look like it’s flapping its little wings.
Like a lot of people, I *usually* need dual stimulation to reach orgasm, and a rabbit style vibe is the quickest and often the easiest way to get that. But I’ve had some rabbits that were shockingly far off the mark, so I’m a bit hesitant when it comes to buying them. However, I have had a couple of rabbits that have been a good fit for my anatomy, and this is one of them.
The rounded end of the clitoral arm reaches the right spot almost perfectly, and the shaft is really flexible, so I can get good contact with my front wall and my G-Spot without losing contact of my clit. But a good fit does not a good vibrator make, if the vibrations on offer aren’t up to scratch.
The Lotus Flutter is powered by two AAA batteries, which are inserted by screwing off the silver plastic base. There’s a rubber ring down there, and that makes the toy waterproof. A pink strip rings the centre of this plastic battery cover, and the toy is powered by the single button you’ll find there.
As well as five speeds of intensity, the Lotus Flutter has five patterns. There are two points of vibration here, but from just one motor. The option to operate the shaft and clitoral arm would have went a long way to making this a more powerful, enjoyable toy. But that’s not to say it’s a weak, buzzy thing. The vibes are a helluva lot more powerful than I would have dreamed! If they were powered by more than two triple A’s, I think they could be quite impressive, but unless there’s a second motor, the clitoral arm will always suffer from having to share power.
Using the shaft as a clit vibe helped me reach orgasm easily enough, so I was excited to get it inside me. Unfortunately, that’s where I encountered a problem. As previously mentioned, the Lotus Flutter is a good fit for me, but the butterfly kinda ruins it. It looks lovely, and feeling it flutter away on my finger tips gave me high hopes, but in use, it just gets in the way.
This happens for two reasons.
- I have large labia, and my clitoris is well hidden until I’m 100% turned on.
- The butterfly’s ‘head’ curls toward the shaft. It doubles over and dampens the vibrations the clitoral arm is pumping out. When I do manage to get it into the right position I can’t ever keep it there, and have to repeatedly slip a finger in to pop it back into place.
I have a toy with a similarly fluttery end to it which I love stroking over my clit, and I’d hoped I would get the same sensations from this, but it just doesn’t happen.
I’m a bit saddened by it, because I really do like this toy, and I know that if there was a little more power and a little less butterfly, I’d love it. I would recommend it to others, especially beginners, but it would be on the proviso that they have an easy to reach clitoris, don’t need earth shattering vibes, and can get around the pretty yet pesky butterfly head.
If you’d like to give the Lotus Flutter a go, you can pick one up from Betty’s Toy Box.
