Say hello to the Adrien Lastic Mr Hook, peeps.
This is the third product since Scandarella launched that I’ve struggled to review, and interestingly enough, one of the others was an Adrien Lastic product too. The 2X Double Ended Vibrator gave me pause for all the right reasons, but unfortunately I can’t say the same about the Mr Hook.
Now I feel the need to say that on the whole, I’m a fan of Adrien Lastic products. I love the lush feeling silicone they use, and the build of their toys is always first rate. The Mr Hook is no different in those respects. The quality is fab, and the idea behind it is a good one, but I experienced too many personal niggles for me to truly like it.
Firstly, I’ll tell you a bit about the toy itself. As the name suggests, it’s a hooked piece of flawless purple silicone, and is designed to be worn in and around the vagina during penetrative (be it penis or dildo) sex. The shape also lends itself to hands free g-spot and clitoral stimulation, whether the one wearing it is playing solo or with a friend.
Following the curve from tip to tip, the Mr Hook is 10 inches in length. The insertable bulb is a dinky 1.5/2 inches long, with a girth of just 3 inches. The body of the toy remains quite thin and flat, ballooning out to a 2 x 1.75 inch spoon shaped external stimulator. Helping guarantee it remains hands free are the two elasticated loops at the top of this spoon, to which you attach the included elasticated strap harness.
You might have noticed that I said external stimulator rather than clitoral stimulator. I phrased it that way because when it comes to fit, this sucker ain’t nowhere near my clit. As you’ve probably read in a past review, I have large labia. My inner ones are the tiniest things ever, but my other ones are priddy big, and they bury my poor little clit by about a centimetre, maybe more.
This means that the spoon shaped stimulator misses my clit by miles, not only because it’s too bulky to fit comfortable between my labia, but also because when it rests on top of them my clit is hanging out at least a cm below the surface of the toy, cushioned by flesh.
But don’t the vibes travel enough to even just remotely tease your clit, I hear you ask.
Umm, no. No, they don’t. I had to double check on Adrien Lastic’s website to see if the Mr Hook actually is dual motor. It is, though you’d never guess it either in use or in your hand. That’s cos the ‘clitoral’ motor isn’t situated anywhere near the part that is intended to stimulate the clit. If you look at the pic below, the sites of both motors are circled. Not sure why the external motor is positioned where it is, but there you go.
So that leaves the internal motor. I should probably say at this stage that the Mr Hook offers three intensities of constant speed and seven modes, all of which are controlled by the embossed ‘A’ on the back of the spoon end. The internal vibes aren’t actually too shabby. Once that little hook is inside me, it’s surprising how easily it finds my g-spot. If I use the spoon end as a handle and use a separate source of vibration on my clit, I can reach orgasm.
But as much as that’s a good thing, I shouldn’t have to employ a second toy to compensate for a dual stim toy’s failings. I do enjoy the way the vibes of the hook feel inside of me (tapping it off my pubic bone is bizarrely nice) but they’re not enough without a separate bullet.
And all that’s just the solo use problems.
Using it for penetrative sex – its actual intended use – is pretty unpleasant. The Fella isn’t hung like a racehorse by any means, but whenever he thrusts into me when I’m wearing the Mr Hook there’s an awful scraping, banging sensation around my pubic bone. I can’t enjoy the constant g-spot stimulation because I’m in too much discomfort from the incessant pressure against said bone.
We tried with a couple of different sized dildos (Vixen Mustang, Lovehoney 7 Inch Curved, & Tantus Acute) and all of them gave the same results. Pain.
As is the way with most toys I review, there are pros and cons to the Mr Hook:
PRO – It’s rechargeable via usb, and you get up to 45 minutes use from an 80 minute charge.
PRO/CON – Like I said above, it comes with a harness to ensure it remains hands free – if it fits you. The harness is adjustable, but only down. It doesn’t cater to plus sizes like me.
CON – It’s not waterproof, so no skinny dipping with it, and when you clean it ensure you don’t get any liquids near the charging hole.
I feel like I say this far too often, but if you have smaller labia or an exposed, easily accessible clit, you may find that you get along with the Mr Hook. Of course, you’d need to be someone who doesn’t require a great deal of power from their clitoral stimulators. As a dual stim toy it’s gonna be hit and miss, same as all other dual stimulators out there. It may hit your hot-spots in tandem, it may not. Only trying will tell.
As for using it as a penetrative sex enhancer…I dunno. I really didn’t like it at all, but someone with a different anatomical shape to mine might think it’s the dog’s bollocks. If you’d like to discover whether or not this is you, you can pick one up at Lovehoney.
The Adrien Lastic Mr Hook was sent to me by Adrien Lastic in exchange for an honest review. This in no way influences my opinions, which are now, and will forever be, my own. Affiliate links have been used in this post.
