Eroticon 2017 – erotic writing convention par excellence – is almost here!!
And that sound you can’t quite identify the source of is coming from me. It’s a weird blend of excited hand clapping and terrified butt cheek flapping, with a few squeaky ‘eeeks’ thrown in for good measure. I’ve met some lovely people through Twitter, many I now consider friends, so as anxious as I am, I’m really looking forward to saying hi. There are also some people I’m in awe of, so I apologise to those folks in advance for any tongue-tied drooling I do in their presence.
So, without further rambling, here’s a bit of info about me so that, when we eventually do meet, I won’t be such a stranger.
Name
I’m one of those anonymous types and have chosen to write under the name Ella Scandal, so you can call me Ella. You might have to click your fingers in my face if I don’t respond, though, as I’m not used to answering to that name. Scandarella will probably grab my attention, so feel free to holler that at me if I dumb out on you. You can find me on Twitter @ella_scandal if you want to.
What are you hoping to get out of Eroticon 2017?
I’ve made no secret of the fact that my dream is to see my work in print one day. I’m hoping that I can learn some things at Eroticon that help me find the path to make that a reality. But that isn’t all I’m hoping for, though. I want to learn how to improve not just my writing but also my people skills. In recent years anxiety has changed me from a bit of a wild child into someone who is awkward and quiet, even among friends and family, so I’m vowing to myself that Eroticon will be the first steps in conquering this difficult version of me.
This year’s schedule at Eroticon is pretty full on, but which 4 sessions do you already have marked down as ones you want to attend?
Ooh, there are so many more than 4 sessions I want to attend! As you might have noticed, I have a tendency to be very wordy, so Malin James’ Keep It Tight session is a must. Pitch to a Company/Pitch to a Publisher is another must attend, as is Anna Sky’s Tips For Getting Your Work Into Print. I want to hear Girl on the Net speak, and Victoria Blisse, Kate Lister and Rachel Kincaid… Oh, and then there’s the rope workshop and the Kink Craft workshops too! I wonder if Hermione’s busy with her time turner.
Tell us one thing about yourself that not many people know?
I’m turned on by thunderstorms. The booming crashes and heavy rain, the electrically charged atmosphere and the scent of ozone… it all makes me want to walk outside naked and offer myself up to the first man I see. I don’t, obviously cos I’m a married woman, but god help the Fella if he happens to come home from work in the middle of a storm.
If you made the papers, what would the headline be?
Teetotaller has one rum truffle too many and gets lost in her own back garden.
If you could have one skill for free (I.e. without practice/time/effort) what would it be?
I’d love to wake up one day and find out I can dance. My mother can dance well enough and my dad is pretty much made from elastic and moves accordingly, but while my genes have blessed me with straight teeth and big boobs, they’ve also cursed me with two left feet. Both of which are back to front and hobbled. I can just about shuffle from foot to foot, but trying to whizz me around a dancefloor is the quickest way to get yourself killed, because I will trip and end you.

3am rolls around and I’m still rattling around the house. Silence inside, silence outside, cosy kid all tucked up in bed, sleepy kitties lazing on the back of the sofa. The tranquillity of such stillness made perfect by fluffy socks, a good book, and a steaming cup of chamomile tea.
