We-Vibe Gala Clitoral Vibrator

Of all the sex toys I’ve tried there’s one particular style that I want to be able to enjoy so much. I’m talking about the double-pronged clitoral vibrator. The very idea of having my two fave clitoral areas – just beneath the glans clitoris and against its right side – stimulated by pinpoint accurate vibes instantly turns me on. Thing is, I’ve not had much success with this type of thing. I’ve tried a couple but they’ve all let me down. Recently, a new toy in this style was launched by one of my favourite brands; the We-Vibe Gala.

Luckily for me, Luxury Vibrators were as keen to know what this one is capable of as I was, so they arranged for We-Vibe to send me one. As soon as it arrived I was hopping up and down with excitement, getting it on charge immediately so I could use it as soon as possible.

In the box with it is a USB magnetic charger, an info booklet, a sachet of lube and the old faithful satin bag. From new, I think I charged it for something like an hour before it was fully charged, but from flat it takes around an hour and a half. From that, you get up to two hours of playtime depending on which settings you choose.

The We-Vibe Gala is made of soft silicone in a pretty coral colour. There’s an ABS insert in the base and that’s where you’ll find the charging point. I quite like the size and shape of it. A pebble shaped body with two long tips, measuring up at 5-inches all in. The whole piece is rigid, including the prongs. They can be nipped slightly together but there’s no pushing them apart. But they’re nicely rounded with slightly tapered tips, so you can tailor how pinpoint the vibes are depending on how you hold them against the body.

It’s comfortable to hold, the controls are easily within thumbs reach (provided you use the toy with the buttons facing up), and build wise it’s everything I expected from We-Vibe.

I was pleased to find that I could fully control the Gala without having to fuck about with the We-Connect app. I don’t bloody like apps, but I do appreciate where they can fit in with some lifestyles. But the button interface on the toy itself gives you an ON/increase vibes button, a mode button, and an OFF/decrease vibes one. The app gives you all that, too, but also lets you operate the dual motors independently and gives you more ways to customise your play.

I’m not too impressed that if I’m not using the app I have to scroll down through the intensities to turn this thing off. That seems like a backward slide for We-Vibe seeing as all their other products are switched off by holding down a button.

Vibe-wise, things are a little different with the Gala. While most of the patterns are similar to other We-Vibe products, the dual motors give them a different edge. The two motors don’t work in tandem, they seem to work just out of sync giving it the feel of an echo. This isn’t all that noticeable until I press the toy firmly against my body. Then they start to wobble and chug as if the pressure is making the motors struggle.

That’s the second thing I’m not loving about the Gala.

The third thing is the absolute lack of power. Yep, this is the first We-Vibe toy that hasn’t made me a happy gal. Well, I should go into more detail about that, cos there is a bit of weirdness that kinda contradicts me.

When I’m using the We-Vibe Gala via the buttons I don’t like it, it’s too weak and buzzy. It’s so far away from the rumbly orgasm delivering power of We-Vibe’s other stuff it’s almost like it’s from a different brand. I wanted to be able to hold one of the prongs against the right side of my clit and, with a twist of my wrist, sweep the other prong over my exposed clit, press it hard beneath it then brush over it again until I came shaking. I tried on multiple occasions, with and without the aid of an internal dildo/vibe, but it just didn’t do anything for me at all. Not even my nipples respond to these vibes and that’s saying something these days.

However…

When I use the app, things change. But not in the way you might expect. Like I said above, the two motors can be operated independently when using the app. If both motors are running at full speed I get the same lacklustre vibes I get from the buttons. But, if I switch one of the motors off completely? There’s my rumbles! They’re not as powerful as say, the Tango, but they are definitely different in quality compared to the buzz of both motors.

I honestly wondered if I maybe had a faulty unit and that when I thought I was switching motors off I was actually switching them on. The Fella suggested that maybe the shared power source doesn’t have what it takes to operate two motors, so once it’s split between them there’s a significant dip in power. I dunno, it’s just not what I was expecting at all.

For it being a We-Vibe product, I’m infuriated with it. I hold this brand in such high regard. I love their products so much I expect the best from them all the time. But no matter how I try to use the Gala I’m left disappointed and frustrated. Considering that I’m Little Miss Positive and can find a silver lining in most dark clouds, saying that the Gala doesn’t fit anywhere in either my solo play or sessions with the Fella is a huge thing for me. I wanted to love the Gala, but I just don’t.

That’s not to say it’ll be like that for everyone though. If you like gentler vibes, prefer patterns and wobbles to constant, or just love being able to have full control over what you get via an app, it could be the toy of your dreams.
