We-Vibe Unite Partner Vibrator

When people think of brands like We-Vibe, they often think in terms of cost. Understandably so, given that it’s one of the most popular mainstream luxury brands out there. Well, that’s all changing. Not the luxe status, but the price point. Like some other brands, We-Vibe have started looking into introductory models. And this, the We-Vibe Unite is one such product.

Before I tell you about it, I’ll tell you a little about the folk who sent it to me: Luxury Vibrators. Spurred on by their need to stay home with their children, Canadian besties – Bonnie & Stacie – decided to launch their very own online store. Carrying nothing but the best the sex toy market has to offer, they’ve been shipping their wares mostly throughout Canada and the United States since 2015. In a recent review package from them which saw me rolling on my bed in a glut of gorgeous toys, I found the We-Vibe Unite. So, let’s get to talking about that, shall we…

A great thing about We-Vibe is that, from the packaging to the products inside, they’re always completely unintimidating. There’s nothing on the box to turn away any shy folk, and there’s nothing in the box to put first-time sex toy users off.

The We-Vibe Unite is a rechargeable vibrator, so along with the toy itself you’ll find a USB cable in your box, along with a remote control and a satiny storage bag. There’s also instructions in there, and a sachet of We-Vibe by Pjur water-based lube to get you started.

Most We-Vibe products come with the dreaded magnetic chargers, but not the Unite. You get a pin charger with this one. Right at the tip of the clitoral stimulator you’ll find a little depression in the silicone. It’s a self-healing hole, and all you have to do is jab your pin straight in and you’re good to go.

Now, the instructions say charging takes around six hours, but that’s from completely flat. If you keep your We-Vibe Unite topped up, it doesn’t take even half that time. You get up to sixty minutes of play from a full charge, depending on what vibes you choose.

Like I mentioned above, the Unite is made from silicone. It’s seamless, a grapey shade of purple, and smooth to the touch. There’s a dragginess to this silicone that can be unpleasant if wetness is lacking, so make sure you have plenty water-based lube to hand.

Size-wise, the We-Vibe Unite is tiny. Following the curve on the outside, it measures 7-inches from end to end. The thicker part has a circumference of 3.25-inches, and the thinner part just a pancake flat 2-inches.

Intended to be worn vaginally during penetration (either by partner or dildo), one side remains outside of the body to stimulate the clitoris while the other slips inside, hooks over the pubic bone to stimulate the g-spot area, all while feeding its vibes into the penetrating penis, should there be one.

Both ends of the Unite have ribs on the inner surfaces to offer a little extra stimulation during play. The idea is, that when your partner thrusts, their appendage pushes the inner arm against the g-spot, and their pelvis does the same for the clit. If they don’t manage to hit that, you can always reach down yourself to find the pressure you need.

Inserting the We-Vibe Unite can be quite tricky once lube is in play. For this kind of vibe, I always get the Fella to pop it in me if he’s around. Once you have the internal arm in, the whole piece clamps into place. By clamp I don’t mean, you know, clamp, I mean fits snuggly around the pubic bone. Whether not it reaches your hotspots will depend entirely on your anatomy.

To operate the Unite, you need to find the almost invisible button. It’s located right at the tip of the clitoral stimulator, near the charging point. I’ll be honest, it’s a bitch to use. It has to be the least responsive button on earth. We quickly learned to turn it on before lubing it up, cos if it’s wet your chances of successfully getting it going without it shooting from your hands are slim to none.

Honestly, I’d be calling it a piece of crap for that reason alone if it wasn’t for the remote. A cute, white plastic thing with a grey silicone button, this battery powered remote is a lifesaver! Once you have your Unite switched on, lubed up and popped in place, grab the remote and you can control the vibes at the touch of a very accessible button.

It’s a one-way button so you can only go up through intensities and patterns, but that’s 100% better than having to shove a hand in your crotch to try to find an invisible button on the tip of a wet bit of silicone.

As for those vibes, you get three intensities of constant vibration, and seven patterns. I don’t care much for patterns, so the most important thing to me is always the quality of the highest constant speed.

The word to use for those vibes, is buzzy.

You can tell that they want to be rumbly, but they’re just not. Given the size and the fact that the Unite is an entry level vibrator, that’s not at all surprising. I expected it, so I wasn’t disappointed by it at all. What did strike me as odd, though, was the distribution of the vibes. The most powerful point seems to be on the curve. The clitoral arm is slightly less powerful than that, and the internal stimulator barely buzzes at all. I’d have thought the oomph would be concentrated in the clit bit, as that’s where most vulva owners are gonna need it, but no. It’s in the curve, so gives most of its power to your vaginal opening.

For me, the We-Vibe Unite isn’t the greatest fit on the world. It doesn’t reach my hotspots as well as I’d like. If I’m playing alone I find I have to hold the clitoral part in place, and I usually have to approach dildo penetration from behind. If I go buck wild, I get pop-outs every few minutes, so I always take it slow.

The vibes aren’t strong enough to get me off, but I do still come when the Fella and I use the Unite together. The beauty of it is, there’s so much other stuff going on (penetration, pressure from the toy itself) the vibes are just an enhancement. If I’m having sex I’m probably coming anyway, so having vibes added to the mix just makes things a bit more exciting. Also, it makes my orgasms last a tad longer, too.

We find that, with any partner vibe, going at it hell for leather is not the way to go. The toy literally gets fucked out of me, and it’s a pain to have to stop to reinsert it. So, we’ve learned that grinding is the way forward. That way, his cock isn’t pulling the internal part out. And, as he’s pressed up against me, he’s mushing the outer part into my clit. Deep penetration, hard, vibey clit stim, bodily closeness… all that comes together to make for some great sex!

Strangely, the Unite is only splashproof, unlike all the other vibes in We-Vibe’s partner range. To wash it, you can just run it under the tap and give it a quick soaping. Or, like me, you can use toy cleaners and a soft cloth. The silicone used here adores fluff and dust, so it’ll need a quick rinse before every use. Mine’s kept in its storage bag, along with its charger and remote.

So, yeah. As an introduction to We-Vibe partner toys, the Unite is a decent little thing. It retails at around £80, which is almost half the price of the top version, the We-Vibe Sync. You’ll get a good idea of whether C-shaped partner vibes are gonna work for you without having to part with a load of cash. If you don’t know what you like in terms of vibes, or if you do and you know you like them whisper quiet and mild so as not to eclipse your partner’s efforts, the Unite might well be a great place for you to start.
